A server is a powerful computer system that provides necessary facilities and resources for client computers connected to it through a network.

Server computers are equipped with large amount of primary storage and high speed hard disks.

There is always a specialized program, called web server, installed on a server computer that provides necessary functionality.

Both the server program and the server computer are usually and interchangeably called web server.
