A modem (MOdulator/DEModulator) is a device used to connect a computer to an ISP.
Modems generally come in two forms:
- Modems used to connect a computer to the Internet through an analogue (non-digital) line, like dial-up modems.
- Modems used to provide an Internet connection through digital lines,like DSL modems.
Wireless modems use wireless connectivity technology
