Data packet

Data travels over the Internet in form of packets. It mean data is broken down into segments before leaving the source computer.

Data packets are integrated at the destination computer to retrieve the original data.

Data packets could be modified or damaged during transmission, and because of that there are mechanisms to request these packets to be sent again.
