A computer file is a format for saving a certain amount of data.
There are two file types:
- Executive files that can carry out some tasks after being opened, like writing data on hard disk of a computer or making changes to operating system of a computer by installing or deleting some data components. Examples are installation files used to install a software.
- Non-executive files that cannot carry out anything, but are capable of saving changes made by a user. Examples are image files.
