ActiveX control

ActiveX controls are active components that are embedded in HTML code of a web page and run when the page is loaded to produce dynamic pages capable of interacting with web page visitors.

ActiveX controls are capable of doing virtually everything on computer of the web page visitor, that makes these controls an extremely powerful tools and that can lead to security and privacy breaches in case of defect or malicious ActiveX controls.

Defect activeXes could make a computer susceptible to security hazards and malicious ones are capable of doing harmful actions like writing viruses or spywares or any other malicious computer programs on hard disk of the web page visitors.

Some web browsers are inherently incompatible with ActiveX, that means ActiveX controls in the related web pages cannot run in this case.

Activex controls are obsolete technology and are not used anymore and modern web browsers do not support them.
